Tall Leggings With a 31-Inch Inseam: PopFlex Sells 7 Styles, Baleaf Sells None

Short version — If you're 5'10" or taller and want a skinny, ankle-length legging, you're shopping from about a dozen styles: PopFlex's Extra Tall (31"), Girlfriend Collective's 31" Compressive line, two Senita multi-length leggings (31") and one CRZ Yoga legging sold in 31.5", 32" and 33.5". Want anything longer than 33.5"? It'll be a flare or a bootcut.

Tall shoppers hear "just size up" a lot. The charts say that barely works, and the in-stock counts show why the long-legging aisle feels empty. It's not in your head.

Which brands sell fitted leggings with a 31-inch inseam?

We counted in-stock women's leggings and tights (no flares, wide legs, joggers or capris) and checked whether any length option reached 31". Colors of the same style count once.

PopFlex is the only brand where every fitted style has a long option. It sells five length bands, and some listings print the inches: Tall is 29", Extra Tall is 31" and meant for 6'0" and up. Girlfriend puts 23.75", 28" and 31" on its Compressive High-Rise, Pocket and Drawstring Pocket leggings, in sizes XXS to 6XL. The other nine Girlfriend styles stop at 28".

CRZ Yoga prints the inseam at the end of every product title, and that's how you spot its one long option. It's the Butterluxe High Rise Pocket Legging, listed separately at 31.5", 32" and 33.5". Most CRZ leggings are 25" or 28". At Senita, the Skin High Waisted Vinyasa and Skin Shakti multi-length leggings go to 31". Most of its other leggings are 26" or 27".

Why doesn't sizing up give you a longer inseam?

Baleaf answers this better than anyone, because it prints an inseam for every size. Here's its Yoga Brushed Fleece High Waisted Legging, a fleece style for the cooler months ahead.

Going from L to XXL adds 0.3" of inseam. It also adds about 7" of waist. The chart pairs a 6'1" height with a 28.3" inseam. That's shorter than the 29" PopFlex assigns to 5'8"–5'11". We covered the rest of Baleaf's charts in our Baleaf size chart notes.

What inseam do you need if you're 5'10" or taller?

Two brands put heights next to their long lengths, and they don't agree. PopFlex measures to the ankle bone. Bubblelime's longer rows describe hems that sit lower.

At 6'1", the two charts sit as much as 6" apart. Use the PopFlex number for a skinny legging that should stop at the ankle. Use the Bubblelime number for a bootcut or flare, which it says needs "roughly 2" more" than a straight leg. The short-height version of this chart is in legging inseam by height.

Where do you find inseams past 33 inches?

In the flare and bootcut aisle. When we ran the same count on flare, bootcut, wide-leg and straight-leg styles, the numbers flipped.

Bubblelime sells most of its long styles in 2" steps from 29" to 37", and two-thirds of its 31"+ options are priced $32.98 to $37.98. Its closest thing to a legging at those lengths is a straight-leg yoga legging, not a skinny one. Its fitted leggings stop at 28". What mistakes do tall shoppers make with legging length?

• Buying a size up for length. On the Baleaf chart above, going from L to XXXL adds half an inch.
• Trusting the word "tall." PopFlex's Tall is 29". Bubblelime's chart calls 29" a fit for 5'4"–5'8". Always find the inches.
• Using a flare chart for a skinny legging. Bubblelime lists 35" for 5'11"–6'2", but that row describes a hem "over the heel, stacked." On a skinny legging, that much length bunches at the ankle.

Does a longer inseam cost more?

At three of the brands, no. PopFlex charges $68 for the Contour Legging and $70 for the Crisscross Hourglass in every band from Extra Petite to Extra Tall. Girlfriend's Compressive High-Rise is $108 at 23.75", 28" and 31". Senita's Vinyasa and Shakti multi-length leggings are $45 at every length.

Bubblelime adds a little per step. Its BWWB068 straight leg goes from $30.98 at 29" to $32.98 at 37". The BWWB011 and BWWB116 bootcuts add up to $4 between their shortest and longest lengths. Is 31 inches long enough if I'm 6 feet tall?

For a legging meant to stop at the ankle, PopFlex says yes. It sets 31" for 6'0" and up. If you like the hem to touch the top of your foot, look at CRZ Yoga's 32" or 33.5" Butterluxe Pocket Legging.

What's the longest skinny legging we found?

CRZ Yoga's Butterluxe High Rise Pocket Legging at 33.5". Nothing else fitted in the six catalogs went past 31".

My waist is between sizes and I'm tall. Which do I pick?
